■Philippe Cohen SolalもGotan Projectも知らないけれどこれはよかった。The 5th Dimensionのバージョンで好きだったこの曲を、Horace Andyが歌うとは！　というわけで聴いたんだけど、こういう感じの良さははMassive Attackの「Mezzanine」(1998年)以来なのでは。もっと音圧があって低音が出てたらな…などと欲深いことを思って、そりゃ結局「Mezzanine」を望んでるということなのかと気付いた。

The 5th Dimensionの「Aquarius 〜 Let the Sunshine In」はなにしろ後半の激変する展開とそのリズム、とくにベースラインが良くて。まあベタといえばベタなんだけど。

■リー・ペリー(Lee "Scratch" Perry)は聴いただろうか。聴いてないなら是非聴いてほしい…。メロウすぎるにもほどがあるSSW、asuka andoの「あまいひとくち」が最高。最高に甘い。「Musical Bones」の、その中でも「5 Cardiff Crescent」はそりゃあ好きだが、まさかこんな言葉で、こんな声で夢心地に歌われようとはね〜。Kouchie Riddim Sectionの演奏も何なんだというほど素晴らしい。

■この曲が収録されているアルバム「あまいひとくち」も相当聴いてるけれど、その影響で彼女の前作「Mellowmoood」もよく聴くようになった。「Mellowmoood」については以前と印象が変わったというか、ずっと味わいが増した。「あまいひとくち」のせいなのか。「あまいひとくち」聴いちゃ「Mellowmoood」聴く、「Mellowmoood」聴いちゃ「あまいひとくち」聴く。そんな感じだ。

■2004年にファイストがビージーズをカヴァーした「Inside and Out」。ファイストの声とVVの手腕でなかなかかったるい感じに。でもさあ、Gibb3兄弟は本当にいい曲つくるよね…。「Inside and Out」はビージーズの中でも最も好きな曲、の中の1曲だ。ファイスト、なんでこの曲やろうと思ったのかな。ゴンザレス(Gonzales)が選んだとか？

■ パリのJulien "Young Pulse" Ozonderによるリエディット「Paris Edits」シリーズ、2014年に出たその1枚目。そもそもショップでこんなふうに紹介される12インチには滅多に手を出さないが、4曲中3曲リオン・ウェアじゃないの。「 I Wanna Be Where You Are」
で途中のライヴ音源が何とも効果的だと思ったんだが、これ、リオン・ウェアのパリライヴ録ったのを入れたんだね。　

■通常、生活の中でリオン・ウェアの話をすることなどないから誰にも言わなかったけれど、2月になってから度々思い出していた。元気なのか心配していた。そうしているうちに訃報があった。
